A new developer diary has been released for Just Cause 3, focusing on the game’s story. Developer Avalanche Studios is sticking with the tone of the series, prioritising fun over a serious narrative.
“Our missions are an excuse for you to try cool things,” explains Francesco Antolini, Principal Designer at Avalanche Studios. “…we’ve kept the same philosophy from the rest of the game which leaves the player free to experiment and reach their goals however they prefer.”
Avalanche Studios also detailed the way they did performance capture for Just Cause 3. Rather than traditional motion capture, the team decided to use full performance capture, with the voice actors also providing the actions while speaking. The developer hopes it will add a layer of authenticity to the game’s cutscenes.
Another interesting piece of technology used was with the camera man capturing the actors. The camera man had a screen attached to the camera which displayed the game world, so he could see how the scenes looked like in the actual game. You can see it in action in the embedded trailer.
Just Cause 3 will be available December 1st, 2015 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
