This week has already been a busy one on Xbox Live, as the Black Friday deals have been made available early to those with Xbox Live Gold memberships. Adding to the incentive for players to purchase a membership, the free titles for the month of December have been announced and next month, players will be seeing five titles drop their price tags temporarily. For the Xbox One, The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing will be free to download. Thief will cost nothing to download from December 16 until January 15, replacing Knight Squad.
For Xbox 360 owners, three titles will be available next month rather than the traditional two. Admittedly, one of them has previously been made free for the Xbox One, but now the last-gen console will see the discount as well. Castlestorm will be free of charge from December 1 until December 15, at which point both Sacred 3 and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising will be available until the end of the month.
Now that you’ve seen what titles will be offered in December, do any of these strike your fancy? Are there any you won’t be downloading? Let us know in the comments below!
Editor’s thoughts: While one of these titles is somewhat of a repeat from previous months, it is nice to see a more diverse selection of titles being provided. While next month’s titles won’t please each and every individual, combined with the current offering of games, most genres have been represented in recent memory. This is a trend that would be foolish to break, as appealing to the broadest audience possible is the obvious business choice. It would be fantastic to see a fighting game become free early next year just to round things out, but only time will tell.
