‘Street Fighter V’ – Story Details, DLC Plans, Final Beta Dates Revealed

Capcom has announced new information on the story details of Street Fighter V, how to unlock DLC characters for free, and the dates of the fourth and final beta.

Street Fighter V will feature the typical arcade format of storytelling that is featured in many fighting games, known as Character Stories. Each character will have their own story that can be experienced when playing as that character. Playing as each individually featured character will offer background on each fighter, and their relationships with other Street Fighter V characters. Each story will also feature illustrations from famous Japanese artist Bengus, who has worked on a variety of Street Fighter projects, offering a unique and colourful flare to each story.

The stories included with Street Fighter V at launch are considered the prologue to the Street Fighter V cinematic story expansion, which will launch as a free update in June 2016 for all players. This cinematic method of storytelling is a first for the series, with the narrative taking place between Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter III, focusing on M. Bison and Shadaloo.

Capcom has previously revealed players can unlock DLC characters without spending real-world money, and today we received more information on how this will work. Players will earn Fight Money, which can be used to purchase new characters. Capcom is planning to release the in-game store alongside the first post launch release of content in March, allowing players enough time to earn enough Fight Money to unlock new characters. Players can earn Fight Money through various single-player modes prior to the official opening of the in-game store.
