‘Elite Dangerous: Horizons’ Launches on Xbox One In June

In a press release, Frontier Developments has announced that Elite Dangerous: Horizons, the expansion pass for Elite Dangerous, will launch on Xbox One on June 3.

When it launches, the first two Horizons expansions will be available: Planetary Landings and The Engineers. The Engineers will be launching first on PC on May 26 alongside a free update for all players that includes a new missions system, collectable loot and other gameplay additions and tweaks. The free update also adds Private Group play and fully customisable controls on Xbox One.

Elite Dangerous: Horizons brings new features to Elite Dangerous, including 1:1 scale planets to explore. The Engineers expansion includes new customisation options that Frontier Developments says “will change the way you fly, trade, explore and fight in the Elite Dangerous galaxy”. Building on from the explore-able planets of the Planetary Landings expansion, The Engineers introduces – you guessed it – engineers which populate planet surfaces and can assist the player with unique weapons and specialised modules “for the right price”.

Frontier Developments plans to release future Elite Dangerous: Horizons gameplay updates simultaneously on PC and Xbox One. Plans include allowing players to assume roles aboard the same ship, giving players’ in-game avatars a unique appearance, and allowing larger spacecraft to carry their own short-range fighter craft.

The final Elite Dangerous: Horizons announcement was a permanent price drop for the expansion. Elite Dangerous: Horizons on PC is now available as an upgrade to Elite Dangerous for $29.99 US (£19.99, €24.99), and packaged with Elite Dangerous as part of the Commander Deluxe edition for $59.99 US ( £39.99, €49.99). Likewise, the Xbox One price will be the same once it becomes available.
