E3 2013: DICE Announces “Commander” Mode For Battlefield 4

Update:

Here is the official trailer for ‘Commander’ mode in Battlefield 4.

Original Post:

DICE has announced Commander Mode for Battlefield 4 which will enable the use of mobile technology to manage the battlefield.

DICE demonstrated the first look at Battlefront 4′s multiplayer by showing the new Shangai map from the China Rising map pack. Commander Mode will play like a traditional battlefield game with the player having to secure objectives on the battlefield. The demonstration showed how players in a team are easily able to communicate with each other and work together.

The demo showed the players underground with a tank above them. Using coordination, the players took out the support pillars of the underground room which sent the tank crashing through the floor. The players then jumped into a boat which was promptly disembarked in favour of taking refuge in a skyscraper. Using a mobile device, the player in role of the commander was then able to call artillery down on the enemy forces below. The players then parachuted from the building.

The demo also showcased some of the new destructive technology for the game with a collapsing skyscraper falling down in realtime. This was the same building the player occupied moments beforehand.
