Superior Spider-Man #16
Power to the people? Otto has done the unthinkable, the unimaginable, something that has never been done thus yet, he has plastered a villain right on the screen of every citizen of New York to ask for their aid. This is how you break barriers and this is how you shake up the status quo.
Love him or hate him, that is how you get the job done when any villain can remove their mask and be sitting right next to you. Slot has aimed to emphasize Otto’s different approach to heroics and he certainly has. This wa the issue that I was really excited about, many should be considering that most villains you never see this backed up into a corner. Not even Spider Slayer seemed to fear Spidey as much as Phil did. What really sold this was not how Phil reacted to being outed in public, it was how the rest of the world did. Funny enough those who knew him well, knew this was an inevitable moment for him.
The only questionable thing, though small, was how Phil carried that pretty large sword hilt in his pants. I honestly have to believe someone had to notice something that big way before he motioned to draw it out.
Aside from this a great way by Dan Slott to show how Otto really does prove himself to be the Superior Spider-Man. Not because he says he is, but because he proves it every time he steps into a fight prepared. Maybe the army and robots could be excessive, but who would not want that kind of power to back you up? If you are a Spidey fan, do not turn your back for the fact that he doesn’t do things the same way as Pete, enjoy the fact that he is something new, and maybe someone the world deserves more at the time.
